Window Installation.
Professional window installation in Hertfordshire, North London and nearby Bedfordshire. From a single replacement uPVC casement to a full-house window upgrade, we focus on careful fitting, practical advice and a finish that feels right for your home.
Windows that fit the way they should.
Good window installation is about more than putting a new frame into an old opening. Accurate surveying, the right specification, secure fixing, weatherproof seals and careful finishing all play a part in long-term performance.
DF Installations provides replacement window fitting for homeowners and can discuss installation work for builders and other trade customers. Whether you are replacing one troublesome unit or planning a whole-house upgrade, the starting point is understanding the property and your priorities.

Why careful installation makes the difference.
An expensive window cannot compensate for poor fitting. A well-planned installation considers the opening itself, frame support, fixings, weather sealing, drainage, ventilation and how the new unit meets internal plaster, external masonry and existing sills.
We discuss protection of the property, removal of existing units, access constraints, glazing safety and the scope of making good. Each quotation should explain what is included and what needs separate work.
Window performance depends on the complete product and installation. We do not claim specific energy savings or security ratings without the relevant specification.
Compliance is part of the fitting plan.
Replacement windows are controlled fittings in England. The correct requirements and certification route should be considered before works begin, not after the windows arrive.
Energy performance
Compare whole-window U-values or recognised energy ratings for the actual product, and check the applicable Part L requirements.
Ventilation
Existing airflow, opening areas and background ventilators may affect the design. Applicable Part F guidance must be considered.
Safety glazing and escape
Critical locations require suitable safety glazing. Emergency escape openings and other fire safety considerations must not be overlooked.
Certification and permissions
Qualifying replacement work may be self-certified by a registered competent-person installer or approved through Building Control. Listed buildings and some alterations need additional checks.
We confirm the relevant compliance and documentation arrangements for the agreed works. Specialist structural designs and planning approvals are separate where required.
Clear steps. Careful fitting.
A straightforward plan, from first enquiry to final adjustments.

Window installation costs explained.
The cost of window replacement is not determined by the number of windows alone. It also depends on size, material, glazing, upper-floor access, removal, disposal, trims, sills, internal making good and the condition of each opening.
We can quote for a single unit or a larger project once the scope is clear. You should know whether your price includes supply, fitting, waste removal and finishing, with any structural work listed separately.
Send a few photos and a postcode to start with an informed discussion rather than an invented online price.

Window installation FAQs.
Useful answers on installation options, regulations, fitting costs and local coverage.
Do you provide window installation in Hertfordshire?
Yes. DF Installations is based in Hatfield and takes window fitting enquiries across Hertfordshire, nearby North London and Bedfordshire. Share your postcode to confirm whether your particular project is within our working area.
Can you fit windows that I have already purchased?
Installation-only work can be considered when the windows are suitable for the openings and have the necessary specifications and documentation. We need supplier details, window schedule, dimensions, site access and a clear agreement on supply responsibility before accepting the work.
Do you offer supply and fit for replacement windows?
Yes, we can discuss supply-and-fit projects, subject to the chosen window system, availability and quotation. This can simplify coordination of product specification, delivery and fitting.
How much does window installation cost?
The cost depends on window size and number, material, glazing, floor level, access, removal, finishing and any structural or remedial work. We provide a project-specific quote rather than a misleading fixed price.
How long does window installation take?
A straightforward individual replacement may be completed within part of a day, while whole-house projects take longer. The programme depends on window count, opening condition, access, weather and making good. We confirm a realistic schedule for the job.
What is included in your window fitting quote?
The quotation should specify whether windows are supplied by DF or the customer, the quantity and scope, removal and waste arrangements, access requirements, perimeter sealing, internal and external making good, and any exclusions. Ask us to clarify anything that is not listed.
Do replacement windows need a FENSA certificate?
Replacement windows in existing homes in England are generally controlled fittings. Qualifying work can be self-certified through a registered competent-person scheme, or approved through Building Control. The correct route and documentation depend on the job and the contracting/installation arrangements; this is confirmed before work proceeds.
Do I need planning permission to replace windows?
Like-for-like replacements may not require planning permission, but listed buildings, conservation areas, material alterations and new openings can introduce extra controls. Obtain the relevant advice or permission before ordering where necessary.
Can you install windows in an extension or new opening?
We can discuss installation for extension projects and prepared openings. New openings, structural support, lintels, escape provisions and permissions must be addressed by the relevant builder/designer or engineer as appropriate.
Can new windows help with heating bills and draughts?
Appropriately specified and installed glazing can reduce heat loss and unwanted draughts compared with poor existing windows. The result depends on the complete window, including frame, glazing, seals and installation. We do not promise a fixed energy saving.
Will the windows need trickle vents?
Background ventilation requirements are assessed under applicable Building Regulations guidance, including Part F. The correct ventilation solution depends on the existing building and project, so window specifications should be checked before manufacture.
Do you install uPVC, aluminium, timber and sash windows?
We can discuss these window types, along with bay, bow, tilt-and-turn and specialist glazing. The exact fitting service depends on the product system, supplier requirements, condition of the opening and access.
What happens to my old windows?
Removal and disposal arrangements are confirmed in the quotation. We plan protection of the working area and sensible waste handling, but specific making-good and disposal work must be included in the agreed scope.
How do I request a window installation quote?
Send the property postcode, number of windows, photos of existing openings and the style you are considering. If the units are already supplied, include their sizes and manufacturer details. We can then advise on the next steps.
