MORE LIGHT. LESS VISUAL CLUTTER.

See the sky. Feel the space.

Flat rooflights are glazed openings designed to bring daylight through flat or low-pitched roofs. Their clean, low-profile appearance can work beautifully on contemporary extensions and renovations.

Whether you're planning one statement pane or several carefully positioned rooflights, the right result starts with the roof structure, a suitable glazing system and considered installation details.

ASK US ABOUT YOUR PROJECT
What is the difference between a flat rooflight and a skylight?

Skylight is a broad term for roof glazing. A flat rooflight generally describes a low-profile glazed unit designed for a flat or low-pitched roof, often installed over a suitably prepared opening and upstand. Exact details depend on the selected system.

Can you install flat rooflights in an existing flat roof?

Potentially. The existing roof construction, structural opening, waterproofing, access and the chosen rooflight must all be assessed before an installation can be agreed.

Do you supply flat rooflights or only fit them?

Both options can be discussed. DF Installations offers supply-and-fit and installation-only work for suitable products and projects. The scope is confirmed after reviewing the details.

Can you fit a rooflight I have already purchased?

Yes, installation-only enquiries are welcome. Please share the manufacturer, model, drawings, dimensions, opening details and any fitting instructions so suitability and responsibilities can be checked before quoting.

Are flat rooflights available in long or multiple-pane designs?

There are different product designs, including single-pane, long, multi-pane and paired arrangements. The final configuration depends on the available roof opening, structural design, system specification and manufacturer guidance.

Can I choose an opening flat rooflight?

Some rooflight systems are opening or ventilating, but not every design is. We can discuss your preference and review a suitable product specification before confirming whether it can be supplied or fitted.

Who handles the roof structure and waterproofing?

This needs to be agreed for each project. Roof openings, structural alterations, upstands, weatherproofing and making good can involve other specialists. DF Installations will clarify its installation scope and any work needed by others before starting.

Do flat rooflights need planning permission or Building Regulations approval?

Requirements depend on the property and the nature of the work. Structural changes, glazing performance, safety and relevant Building Regulations may apply. Your architect, designer, building control or local planning authority can advise on approvals for your project.

How long does flat rooflight installation take?

Timing depends on the size and weight of the unit, site access, the condition and readiness of the opening, weather and whether other trades are involved. A realistic installation plan is discussed after the project details have been reviewed.

Which areas do you cover?

DF Installations is based in Hatfield and works across Hertfordshire, with suitable projects in Bedfordshire and North London also considered. Share your postcode when enquiring.
